In its appearance the amplifier resembles the modest and unpretentious design that is hard to compete with the luxury models of the large brands, but the surface impressions are often deceptive and this fact takes place in this case. When you have connected the amplifier to a network and carried out the necessary connections, you realize that the "ugly duckling" is actually a very serious product. The faceplate of the NAD 304 is made of iron-grey plastic and features the main controls: the volume control, the balance control, the tone control and a number of buttons which provide the selection of the program and the switching of the modes such as: the equalizer cutoff, the startup of the "Tape monitor" mode. The input and output RCA connectors are placed side-by-side on the backboard. These RCA connectors have the nickel coating and the binding posts for two pairs of the loudspeakers. The NAD 304 amplifier will allow you to extend the capabilities of the signal processing at the input, if necessary, - for this purpose it is enough to dismantle the factory jumpers which connect the output of the preamplifier with the final amplifier. Thus there is the open of the signal circuit and you can install the following devices there: the equalizer, the reverberator, the crossover and so on. The nominal rating power of the amplifier is 2 x 35 W. The signal limiting occurs when the prolonged power output is equal to 42 W, in this case the overload indicator lights up. The short-term dynamic power can reach 120 watts. The external evidence shows a fairly high level of technical performance of the NAD 304.

It should be said that its sound have made the most favorable impression on us. The amplifier can adequately catch the spirit of the music pieces and inspire the listeners for the empathy in accordance with the genre of the pieces. As it has been noted, the sound is thorough, neutral and lush and it is easy to distinguish the subtle shades of tonalities. According to the highest criteria, the amplifier is a bit lack of intensity at low frequencies, but it has rather live acoustic sound transmission. The sound of chamber orchestras and soloists is brilliantly transmitted.
