This model looks very similar to Beocenter 1400. The reason for the model change was the advancement of cassette technology, which was occurring very rapidly in these early years. Whereas Beocenter 1400 had had a cassette section based on Beocord 900, the Beocenter 1500 used parts and ideas from Beocord 1100.

The two machines were still very similar, though a few small improvements made the new model easier to use and capable of better results. The major change was that the Beocord 1100 mechanism had a much larger, heavier flywheel and used a flat rubber drive belt instead of a square section one. These two changes brought about smoother running and a slight reduction in wow and flutter. The other change was the inclusion of automatic stop in all modes, so that the keys were released when the tape reached its end, or if it tangled or jammed. The system worked electronically and employed a rotating contact sensor under the take-up spool and a solenoid to activate the keys. Unfortunately, it had not been possible to carry the Dolby B NR circuit over from the Beocord 1100, one would have to wait for Beocenter 2600 for this.

The radio section of the Beocenter 1500 remained unaltered and was still based on the long running and very successful Beomaster 901.
